FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About Therapy

  • Therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and process your experiences. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on and build strategies that help you feel more grounded and in control.

  • We start with a 50-minute initial session to get to know each other and talk about what’s bringing you in. From there, we decide together what makes sense. There’s no pressure to commit - some people come for a handful of sessions, others stay longer. It’s really about what feels right for you.

  • That first session is a chance for me to learn more about you, and for you to get a feel for how I work. I’ll ask some questions, you can share what’s been going on, and we’ll talk about next steps.

  • I use secure and PHIPPA compliant online booking and video systems. You will receive reminder emails for your sessions, and be able to log in directly on any phone, tablet or computer to join the call.

For Youth, Families & Caregivers

  • Your sessions are private. I’ll always go over confidentiality at the beginning so you know what to expect. The only time I would need to share something is if there’s a safety concern - but even then, we’ll talk about it first.

  • Involving parents can help reinforce what’s being worked on in therapy and create more support at home. That said, for teens, it really depends on their comfort level. We’ll figure out together what kind of involvement feels most helpful.

  • Absolutely. I work with older teens and young adults - especially those navigating new independence, school transitions, or big life decisions.

  • Sometimes! Especially at the start, I may meet with you to get the full picture. After that, your involvement depends on what’s most helpful for your child - and we’ll check in about that as we go.

  • In most cases, I’ll need consent from both parents before starting therapy with a child or teen. We’ll go over everything clearly in the consultation so there are no surprises.

Booking, Fees & Insurance

  • You can reach out anytime to book a free 15-minute consultation. It’s a ‘meet and greet’ where we can talk about what you’re looking for and see if it feels like a good fit.

  • The initial assessment session is $295, which includes additional time for preparation and administrative support. Ongoing individual therapy sessions are $240 for 50 minutes.

I also offer supervision for clinicians at a rate of $220 per session, which can include case consultations, formulation support, and professional development.

  • Yes - in an effort to reduce ongoing barriers to care, I hold a few sliding scale spots for clients who need them. Feel free to ask more about this during our consultation.

  • I accept payment via e-transfer. Payment is due at the time of your session.

  • Many extended health plans cover therapy with a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. I’ll provide a receipt you can submit to your insurer. Just note that services aren't covered by OHIP.

  • No referral is needed. You’re welcome to reach out directly. If your insurance provider requires a doctor’s note, I’m happy to help guide you through that.

  • I just ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to the full session fee.
